so excited...so excited...it's MANDRAKE day!

The rumours are true: the Mandrake pattern is IN the shop today *link*

I got him all scanned last night, and it looks suh-WEET!!! Go looky (but don't drool on the keyboard!). I'd really like to see someone interp him -- not a challenge, just a suggestion...
I've also been getting ready for my show in July...and was thinking of ways to rework the mandrake for a series. I've done a super stylized version
and love it. Though blue + green isn't even close to my normal autumny palette, I'm really digging the way the colors interact and pop against the muslin. I've done some prelim stitching and will finish it up this week. For those interested, I'll also make this design available in the market.
And THEN (I know, it's getting cray-zay) I'll be putting up the WOmandrake next week!! Oh yeah, she's fierce. When I get her up, I'll offer a combo deal with both patterns for $8 instead of $5 each.
I think I'm getting the hang of this pattern stuff -- the whole adventure has turned out to be a lot more fun (and satisfying) than I dared to hope it would be. I guess that's a good problem to have!
Take care and get stitchin -- Spring is at the door and will call us all out Soooooon....

new work-a-plenty!

...and I don't even LIKE birds, but they can't be beat for stitching! This guy is a mutation of the Tree of Life bird and has been very cool to work on. I love the brazilian cast ons in green and blue up the backside. The pattern is available over at the website *LINK*
Today is all about scanning and uploading new stuff, so enjoy the buzzard and I'll get some more stuff going soon!

Art leeches, filthy thieves, and internet vampires...oh my

These are the posts I dislike the most because they mean someone's (or in this case hundreds of someone's) hard work is being perverted by soul-less, talentless, hacks. Go here

http://www.flickr.com/groups/stop-photo-theft/discuss/72157612231980088/

and read about the dreadful happenings.
Also see Art and Ghosts discussion--but sit down first--her work is exceptional and is being stolen BY THE PORTFOLIO FULL and cut up for crappy collages (grrrrr). She is here

My students (& some readers) know I have a long and committed history of free speech activism and of protecting artists rights--I urge you to check out YOUR good name and see if the polyvore scum have bitten YOU. If we stand together we can drag the vampires to light and reveal their disgusting practices. Good luck.
